The Project

“From Billboards to Backpacks” is a simple idea with a big impact. Big Tree collects old billboard materials that would usually end up in the trash. Instead, they turn these billboards into sturdy backpacks. These backpacks are then given to the children at Yayasan Chow Kit, a community centre that helps kids in need.

The project does more than just give out backpacks. It also teaches kids how to be creative. They learn how to make useful things from materials that might seem like junk. This helps them think differently about waste and see the potential in everything around them.

Promoting Eco-Awareness

Recycling is a big part of this project. The kids learn why it’s important to recycle and how it helps the environment. By turning billboards into backpacks, they see firsthand how recycling can turn something old into something new and useful. This makes the idea of recycling more real and important to them.

Remember when we were preached on the importance of 3R (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle)? We can still vividly remember how they prepared 3 different-coloured trash bins to make sure we throw our rubbish according to their material. This project might be the one initiative that they will remember ’til they are adults.

The Impact

The impact of this project is huge. The kids can benefit a lot from this initiative. The kids get new backpacks, which they need for school. They also learn important lessons about creativity and taking care of the Earth. These lessons can stay with them for life, helping them make better choices generally.

A Message For The Future

“From Billboards to Backpacks” is a great example of how simple ideas can make a big difference. By combining creativity with eco-awareness, Big Tree and Yayasan Chow Kit are helping kids see the world in a new way. They are showing that everyone can do something to help the planet, no matter how small it might seem. They teach kids valuable lessons and help the environment at the same time.

Big Tree’s work with Yayasan Chow Kit is a shining example of how businesses can give back to the community and make a positive impact. This project not only provides for the kids but also inspires them to think creatively and care for their world.
